About StandUp Safe

StandUp Safe is a subcommittee of a non-profit organization called StandUp! Blue Springs. The mission of StandUp! is to build a team of volunteers who will facilitate involvement, growth, communication, and collaboration by engaging citizens in the Blue Springs community.

StandUp Safe is composed of Blue Springs citizens concerned about illegal drug use and underage drinking in our community. Our mission is to promote healthy lifestyles in Blue Springs through zero tolerance for illegal drug use and underage drinking.

We believe that the family is the foundation where zero tolerance for illegal drug use and underage drinking must begin. But we also know that parents often need help and support with difficult issues such as this and believe that adult education is an important first step in tackling the problem of illegal drug use and underage drinking. That’s why seven StandUp Safe teams have been trained as facilitators on the subject. They are looking for opportunities to meet with groups of parents, educators, and other caring adults throughout Blue Springs to discuss how to talk with children about drugs and alcohol; the warning signs that a child may be drinking or using drugs; how to help kids who are involved in risky behavior; and information about WeTip.
